Series of plays look to change the way black Latinos are portrayed




NEW YORK — An estimated 2.3 million Hispanics live in New York City, making it one of the largest Hispanic cities in the United States. Many are struggling when it comes to identify -- or at least with how society sees them.

 

Now one woman is working to change that. Her name is Crystal Shaniece Roman. She's the founder/CEO of The Black Latina Movement, which is about to launch a series of theatrical performances.
