2016 is about done. And while I am so thankful for your continued support and emails, posts, shares, texts and likes, it's been an intense year! Not to mention, OMG this year took a bevy of our stars and many icons from us. The list is extremely lengthy! From those that have died from sickness, to those that died tragically, to those that went peacefully and unexpectedly...the fact is, they are no longer here.
But you know what...YOU ARE. You have been blessed by the Creator to still be here, which allows you to keep creating. 2016 was full of drama, tragedy and disappointment for me, but I realize it was that for most of us, wasn't it? However...what he or she did to you to offend you, hurt your feelings, dismiss your love and emotional investment...it's irrelevant. That person that broke your heart, that job you didn't land or keep, that parent or friend who didn't support you...again it's irrelevant. This doesn't mean that it doesn't matter. This doesn't mean that you don't own the right to feel all of the feels that those things, events and people bring to you. But you cannot stay there. Why stay THERE when you have been blessed to still be HERE.
In the new year, prepare yourself. I have learned that I can want plenty, but my work ethic, energy, attitude and preparation will be what gets me those things. And if I plan for anything, I don't have to bank on everything. But I also won't be broken if I get nothing.
However, "nothing" is not what I am looking forward to in 2017. So I have revamped my vision board to reflect my current goals and thankfully several of the items I had up there before I have accomplished and can now remove. I have also been sure stay in touch with my connections to keep nurturing those awesome and necessary relationships ,as I simultaneously continue to establish a rapport with the new acquaintances I've made this year. I have been taking personal stock of my habits and where I am lacking in execution and drive (like my mental and emotional health, my connection with God and my fitness needs...lol). I refuse to be subpar in any area of my life, so I am working on being more on top of all of those things. And my last focus (for now) - but most important - is time. Making time for rest, for fun and spontaneity, for family, for friends and making the time to open myself to new adventures, opportunity and hopefully, love.
As we step into this new year Shining Starrs, what will you adjust and do to prepare for 2017? What will you do to celebrate the fact that you are still alive and able to push forward toward your dreams, goals and the desires of your heart? Share these things with me so that I can celebrate them with you!
