Hey Shining Starrs! How goes it? Happy Holidays to you and yours! I pray that you are enjoying this festive time of year, but with the understanding that it's okay to not be so 'in the spirit' of the holidays too. Just stay positive that life and love and happiness is bigger than Santa, presents and commercial stuff. It lies inside of you, the real people in your life that love you and your pursuit of your dreams! The other stuff is just the cherry on top if you are into it.
As for Miss O, I've been so crazed. But in amazing ways. I have just finished a TV Pilot as the 2nd Assistant Director under one of my mentors. I wasn't even going to take the project at first, but thank God I did, and as a result I made a new and amazing family. So much so that I will be headed out to Los Angeles in the new year to discuss even more opportunities with them.
As many of you know, I am the product of a Guyanese father and a mom who's lineage is Barbados and the South. Well a wonderful organization called Guyanese Girls Rock has published a feature article on me. This is truly important to me, as I really don't have a large connection with my country as an adult, which is a bit sad, given that I spent years there with my biological father. To be recognized by my country is amazing to me and an honor that humbles me. Please click HERE to check out the article and let me know what you think!!! You just might learn something new about me :)
I am delving head first into comedic series work this week as well. I had the pleasure of starring in a new BRIC TV comedy series called BROOKLYNIFICATION. We launch on BRIC TV on Friday, December 16th and I will be hosting the launch at the BRIC House from 7 to 9pm on Wednesday, December 14th. We will be showing three of the episodes, two of which I appear in. Then we will have a Q&A panel discussion which I will moderate about the show. If you are in the NY Metro Area, please come out and enjoy the launch event with us and say hi! If you love Portlandia, Broad City and/or High Maintenance, you will LIVE for Brooklynification! You can RSVP for free HERE.
Thursday I will be shooting my first episode of the new series Deka-Log. A spin off of the amazingly successful and popular Finding Me series, Deka-Log looks into the lives of the supporting characters of Finding Me, and shows you what's going on in their particular lives as the main cast moves on into a new season. The Deka-Log cast is beautiful and talented, and while my character is straight, this series is an amazing look into the LGBTQ community with tons of jokes, real moments and interesting hijinks. LOL Follow us on FB and keep up with the series as we prep to finish shooting and launch!!!!
Lastly, this year I am once again celebrating my bornday on stage. I will be a part of Daniel Mitchelle's New Cotton event at Brooklyn's Milk River on my actual birthday this year, December 23rd. The band will be rocking, artists will be blowing and I will be doing a short set. Great food, drink specials and just an overall great time to be had. Again, if you are or will be in the metro area, please come out and celebrate my earth strong with me! RESERVATIONS ARE STRONGLY SUGGESTED. CALL (718) 636-8600 and to check out the venue/menu click HERE!
