    Navigating Thru the Noise

    September 29, 2016

Today it seems that there is a constant pull for your attention. Whether it's advertisements on line, on the air waves or on TV. Then there are your friends (and strangers) with events and parties that they promote on social media, your timeline and feed, etc. The level of noise these days is cacophonous and incessant. Know that I don't say noise to insinuate that there is no relevance, importance or validity with regard to the things coming at you. However, if you are dream chasing and planning to win, you must be able to realistically decide what is noise and what is not. If for nothing more than your sanity and the best use of your time.

Navigating through the noise can truly help you step your game up. Whether it results in you reclaiming your time for self-care, or simply choosing the right place to be for progression; wading through the stuff can get you where you're going a lot faster.

In a life of dream chasing and hustle, distractions can cause more harm than you think. Especially distractions that are emotional or energy centered. Guard your ear, eye and heart gates. What you see, hear and/or allow into your space can have huge subconscious effects on your disposition and mental state. For example, have you ever woken up in a great mood, ready to tackle the day? Only to be in the presence of someone who infiltrates your space with dark energy, murmuring, complaining or the like? Now you feel irked and annoyed! Or you settle down to watch some reality train-wreck TV, thinking that you are just being entertained. But watching people cheat, lie, fight and back stab has now gotten you all riled up. So there went that chill mode you were in. Now you are snappy and moody, even though before you watched the show you were just fine!! Welp, what happened is that you gave turmoil and unrest access to your spirit and your energy, and it functioned like an internet virus. It looked harmless, you opened it up and now malware is all up and through your hardware. Guard your sensibility folks. It will allow you much more settled moments to focus on your progress.

Another part of killing the noise is realizing that you must pick your battles. It's a hackneyed expression, I will give you that. However, it is so accurate. Everything is not worth the fight. Those trolls on the net seeking viral fame or a retweet by being as nasty as possible, they don't deserve your energy. Neither does that passive aggressive colleague or friend or parent or whatever, that likes to compli-sult you by talking about how awesome it is that you are working on your "little project." You also don't have to react to the folks that never show up for the black box performances or the super local film festivals, but tout how they've been on your team from the beginning once you get into something major. It's all frustrating and at times hurtful, but expending your time and energy on their noise is worthless. People are always going to be people. Indulging in their emotional or verbal noise will only cause you not to focus on your peace. It overrides the whispers of Spirit and the Universe. Choose to let go of the battles that aren't worth your emotional investment.

Listen, we all need that day or night where we let our hair down and sip and two step. Its a healthy indulgence from time to time. But folks, the opportunity cost of going to every party, 'networking' event, screening, workshop, etc., is that unless you are truly gaining an in or some useful knowledge, you are wasting time that could be better used creating, studying, resting or in the company of one or two people that will pour into you and help you re-energize to tackle the next crazy day. It's cool to step out, but if all you are doing is being seen, taking pics for the gram, or upping your Swarm check-ins...STOP! Time is your most precious resource and it is one of the sole resources that doesn't replenish itself. Why waste it indulging in the noise.

Peace is where the true openness, vulnerability and ability to create lies. Find what brings that to you. And also, investigate what does not. This allows you to be proactive in avoiding it down the line. And peace does not mean you may not be in emotional pieces. But it does mean you've made the decision to press on.

Go be great family. And do your best to avoid the things that can discourage or prolong that quest. Resolve to do this and I promise you that you will mive towards your apex and destiny

so much faster and more efficiently.

Yours in groundedness and all the Namaste's!
