Hey Shining Starrs. So this week I want to talk to my ladies. But fellas don't stop reading here. Check things out and support a sistah this week. Remember to tell a special woman in your life that she's amazing.
Hot button topics these days in entertainment are diversity, inclusion and equality. It's fancy and sounds great, but it's a process, right? More women, more people of color, more dollars for the same (and many times more) work, effort and time...basically we want MOORE! Okay...more...but you see what I did there? Lol
Well ladies, I just want to encourage you all this week. I want to remind you that you are all things awesome, creative, passionate, driven, capable, able bodied and ready. We all are works in progress. We all are in need of growth and forward motion, but don't let anyone make you feel that there's no place for your brand of greatness simply because your balls are on your chest and not between your legs.
Growing up in a patriarchal society (yes folks, the US is and has always been that, no matter how covert it may try to be with it) comes with its challenges. BUT we are killing things in all areas from education to entrepreneurship. But how do we take those stats and make them tangible for ourselves? That's actually an easy one! We just effing GO FOR IT.
As women, we take on everything. Sometimes we don't have to, but we feel compelled to. Something in estrogen makes us feel we must fix it all, do it all and smile the whole way through. But while that's tempting, the biggest need is self-care, self-love, supporting one another and lifting our brothers up too. If we support them, many of them will count it not robbery to bolster our success and visions as well.
Ignore the naysayers, the sexists, the haters and the crab-in-barrel chicks out there too. Be great, be woman and know you can roar...but you can purr too. *wink*
Just a bit of love for my ladies this week, that's all. I believe in us! And there are so many other sisters out there pushing to see us heal, grow and win.
How do you shine as a woman? How can you put some things down to pick yourself up? How can you side-step the sexist challenges and inequity out here for females to still strive for, work towards and attain your dreams? Fill me in!
Lastly, if you are in the NY Metropolitan area, I'd like to invite you out to an event celebrating us ladies that I'm hosting!! (Click the link!)
