So I'm in the midst of tech for my upcoming show, ‘Once Upon A Pastime’. With that, I didn't want to miss connecting with you all this week, but I also wanted to be sure that it was short and sweet :).
I just wanted to remind you all to have an attitude of gratitude. So often the world is full of drama, headaches, and opportunities to be sour, bitter, upset, envious, down, defeated, etc. However, those are the moments in which we need to be most thankful. Thankful for the doors that have closed on us, as there are likely bigger and better things in store and the universe is just helping us out. Thankful for and focused on what we DO have and what we have already accomplished, as it is likely more impactful than complaining about what we lack or haven't done yet. Thankful for the support system that we have in place, as opposed to focusing on the haters or those that have seemingly abandoned us or haven't been there for us.
I know it's hard—in the midst of life happening—to always be in gratitude mode...but here are a few steps you can take to get you there! And this is one time where you can "fake it, till you make it!" If you condition yourself in these practices, it will become habit. I promise.
When you are angry...
BREATHE. Then think of what you could have done to make the situation different. Don't focus on anyone other than YOU and what you can do to escape the moment or situation, or to avoid it in the future. Then think on an alternative positive thing that is going on, will happen or that you want. Change the mood by changing the moment.
When you are down...
Make a list of your accomplishments thus far that you are proud of. Reflect on those things and realize that though things may not be amazing today, your yesterdays are full of great things, and that means your tomorrows are due the same...so you will be okay.
When you wake up...
Focus your energy on positives. I am going to have a good day. I am going to do something towards my goals today. I am going to have an opportunity to be blessed and to be a blessing. I am going to be healthy, wealthy and wise. I am going to be forgiven and forgive. I am going to work to be better, stronger, smarter, happier, more productive than I was yesterday... You get the point. LOL If you start your day with powerful “I am's”...then you won't get caught up in the "I'm not's, I don't, I cant's"
I tell you this all the time, but know that I truly believe it. We are all destined to win somewhere, in some way, somehow. But that will only happen for us if we continue to focus our energy on being grateful and positive. The world is a scary, salacious and self-entitled place these days. Not only physically dangerous but emotionally and spiritually as well. So your best defense for it all is a good offense. And that starts with creating a safe and positive space for your dreams to develop, grow and flourish.
Look in the mirror and say #iAmMOOREthanEnuff and I will win!
